#QuiltsforQC delivery

We have been in touch with the Ste-Foy mosque and we will be delivering the finished quilts to them at the end of the month. If you are a guild member and were interested in coming with us to deliver them (and did not already receive an email from me about it), please send us an email (mtlmqg@gmail.com) right away. We will be organizing the carpool and finalizing details soon.

I have also had a number of inquiries about pictures of the finished quilts. I was hoping for a sunny weekend day to get them out on the clothesline and photographed, but as the weather has not been cooperative, I will have to move to Plan B and do it indoors. I will have all 50 of the quilts documented and posted here to the blog by the end of the month, so watch this space (and thank you for your patience!). :)

Vitrine sur la Courtepointe Moderne / A Window into Modern Quilting

Our much anticipated showcase of modern quilts is finally on display at the Maison de la Culture Marie-Uguay in Montreal. The vernissage was this past Sunday afternoon, and it completely surpassed our expectations. The quilts look fantastic, the gallery staff did a great job hanging and lighting them and the gallery space was packed with visitors who spent the afternoon enjoying the works and chatting with the quilters. To cap things off, our founding members Cinzia and Josee gave a presentation on the distinguishing characteristics of modern quilting, and walked the audience through the categories that we had explored for this show.

If you weren't able to make it to our vernissage, don't worry... the show is up for the entire month of February so you still have plenty of time to drop by and check it out (admission is free)!

Wall to wall color and inspiration

I really should be working on the back of my showcase quilt, but it's fighting me at the moment so I've put it in the "time out" pile for a bit. So, I thought I'd take a moment to post a few photos from last night's visit to the Fondation Guido Molinari

For those of you who braved the rainy weather to join us, thank you! And for those of you who couldn't make it, please try to find some time to visit the gallery on your own, it is *well* worth the trip! We were welcomed very warmly by Gilles, the executive director, and Lisa, his assistant... they gave us a great little introduction to Molinari's life and work before guiding us through both the main gallery space on the main floor and the rooms upstairs, as well as even allowing us a sneak peek into the basement storage space! They were both very enthusiastic about sharing and discussing Molinari's work and it was a really lovely visit.
