Our guild is a chapter of a larger community sharing a passion for modern quilting: The Modern Quilt Guild. The MQG was started in Los Angeles, California in 2009 and now has more than 150 chapters around the world. Our branch was started in 2012 by Cinzia Allocca and Josée Carrier as they wanted to be part of this community both online and locally with people from the Montreal, QC area.
MQG Mission Statement:
Our mission is to foster the development of modern quilting and to contribute to the growth of our quilting heritage. We provide opportunities for quilters with all levels of experience to learn the techniques, patterns and aesthetics which are particular to modern quilting. Education and support will be provided through fellowship, challenges, workshops and community outreach. If you want to know to more about modern quilting and the Modern Quilt Guild at large, we encourage you to visit the Modern Quilt Guild blog.
Montreal MQG Meetings:
Our doors are open to anyone in the Montreal region with a passion for modern quilting, whether you are a novice, an expert or somewhere in between. We meet from September through June at the SouthWest Mission in the basement of Verdun Elementary School (entrance at the corner of Melrose and Verdun) on the second Tuesday of each month, and the last Saturday of every other month for a sew-in. We are a bilingual guild - our members are welcome to communicate at our meetings and in our on-line community in either French or English. If you would like more information, or want to come for a 'test drive' as a guest at our next meeting, please contact us at email@example.com for more information.
